The most prominent landmark of the city of Hyderabad, Charminar is located in the center of the city. The monument was erected by Quli Qutub Shah to signify the founding of Hyderabad.  Although it lies right in the center of the city with traffic and crowds milling all about it, Charminar certainly manages to hold the gaze. Towards the north of the monument,

there are four gateways known as Char Kaman which have been constructed in the cardinal directions. This glorious monument is a must-visit spot while you are in the city of Hyderabad.

One of the region’s most iconic monuments, Golconda Fort is present in the western part of the city of Hyderabad. Golconda fort was build in the 17th century, it is said that the mighty Koh-I-Noor was stored here. The light and sound show at Golconda showcases the past of the fort.

Asia’s largest artificial lake, Hussain Sagar Lake is one of the most famous spots for the visitors of Hyderabad. This lake is popular for its monolith of Lord Buddha that stands right in its center. This monolith is the tallest of its kind in the world. It is present nearby by Indira Park, Sanjeevaiah Park, and Lumbini Park on 3 sides and is truly a relaxing and calming getaway from the city.  

Owing to its unique heart-shaped outline, the Hussain Sagar Lake is declared as the ‘Heart of the World’ by the United Nations World Tourism Organization.

The Birla Mandir in Hyderabad forms a pleasant serene atmosphere and is a perfect place for those who wish to get away from city life and immerse themselves in prayer and meditation. The temple itself is present at the top of a 280 feet tall hill ‘The Naubat Pahad’ that overlooks both, Hyderabad and Secunderabad as well as the Hussain Sagar Lake and is one of the best viewpoints in the city.

Situated in Jubilee Hills in Hyderabad, Peddamma Temple is a Hindu temple enshrine by the supreme mother. She is the most supreme of the 11 forms of village deities. Besides the main shrines, the Peddamma temple also has idols of Lakshmi, Ganpati, and Saraswati.

The temple accepts only coconuts as offerings. The unique architecture of this temple makes it one of the visit able locations of Hyderabad.

Nagarjunasagar Dam is the world’s largest masonry dam. Nagarjunasagar Dam present in Nalgonda District is build across River Krishna.  The dam measure 150m tall and 16 km in length while also being a major tourist attraction. It is among the first irrigation projects start by the Indian Government as an element of the Green Revolution.

The dam attracts a huge number of tourists owing to its great magnificence as well as the cover of dense green surrounding it offering a captivating view.


Located in the Ibrahim Bagh, Qutub Shahi Tombs are a group of small and big mosques and tombs built by the rulers of the Qutub Shah dynasty. The Qutub Shahi tombs are all built on a raised platform and have a dome-shaped structure. The little tombs are single-story while the bigger ones are double storeyed. These architecturally unique Tombs are a must-see while in Hyderabad.

Taj Falaknuma Palace takes around 2000 meters above the city of Hyderabad. Once the royal residence of Nizam- probably the richest man in the world, the palace has now been converted into a five-star luxury heritage hotel. With its sheer opulence and elegance, the Taj Falaknuma Palace treats all its guests like royalty.

Present adjacent to the Hussain Sagar Lake in Hyderabad. NTR Gardens is a tiny but beautiful park and has brightly colored plants and tall trees. Showing of well-groomed landscaping, ornate lamp posts, and brilliant water fountains, the NTR Gardens Park also has a souvenir shop, toy train, freefall, restaurants, and a variety of fun activities for both kids and adults.

Osman Sagar lake is present on the outskirts of Hyderabad. Elless world, Ocean Park, and Treasure island surround this lake, making it a famous tourist destination. The water body was made by building a dam on Moosi River in the year 1920 by Mir Osman Ali Khan and the cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad find a water source in this lake.

It is one of the three national museums in the country and also among the largest at 10 Acres and 2 Floors. With over one million paintings, sculptures, carvings, manuscripts, and artifacts, the museum is a repository of art collections a few of which date as far back as the first century.

The museum also has a number of priceless sculptures such as Veiled Rebecca, Double Statue of Mephistopheles & Margaretta, and many more. It also houses an excellent library with more than sixty thousand books and almost eight thousand rare manuscripts.
