Our Guide and Porter come to your hotel at 6:00 am. Then we head north out of Kathmandu to Syabru Besi about a 7/8 hour scenic drive by bus or Land cruiser (depending on group size). The scenery of foothills and ridgeline vistas to Syabrubesi goes through the Trishuli Bazaar, Betrawati and Dhunche you feel as if you are heading towards deep land. While passing along the road at the bank of Trishuli River you catch a glimpse of Ganesh Himal, terraces and green hills. Behind Trisuli Bazaar the road is tricky because of the grubby road. Stay overnight at hotel.
This is our first day of trekking. So we are heading exciting mode to the Gatlang. About an hour and half of ascent from Syabrubesi we reach the view point from where we can see the fantastic view of Ganesh Himal, Gosaikunda range and the Goljang valley, then we head down to Goljang valley for lunch, which is an hour walking downhill. We get in beautiful Gatlang Tamang village is another 3 hrs walk from Goljang. Upon arrival the guests will be welcomed by Khada (white scarves) and the homemade local Rakshi accompanied by a welcome song in local language. Get refreshed and walk around the local Syabru dance. This would be one of the longest days of the entire trip and will take about 6/7 hours. The trekking trail begins by descending to Thangbuchet (near Chilime village) by the Bhotekoshi River. Probably, we will reach the top for lunch. The Chilime Hydropower dam made beautiful tranquil lake here. After lunch the trail will ascend up, crossing the hanging bridge, then continues until you get to Tatopani which literally means 'hot water.' You can cleanse yourself in natural the hot springs bathing areas in the lap of the mountains. People believe that the waters have a healing quality that eases away your aches and pains. We stay overnight stay at local tea house.
After breakfast the trail ascends to Nagthali Danda (3300m) the high open grassland with amazing views of snow covered Himalayas. We will reach the top for lunch at Brimdang village then the trek continues ascending to Nagthali Danda. We are enjoying the view and spend some time at the top accompanied by tea prepared by the caretaker of the Gompa. Again we continue down to Thuman with its Tibetan influenced Tamang villages with friendly people who love to sing and dance. We will stay overnight at a local tea house.
Today, the trail begins flat in the beginning and descends to Timure en route to the old trade route to Tibet. We will stop here for the lunch. The famous Rasuwaghadi (Nepal-Tibet boarder) is just 3hrs walk from Timure lies on the bank of River. After lunch the trail continues for another Tibetan influenced Tamang village Briddim for a unique home stay experience. All accommodations, lodgings and food are offered at the individual houses on a rotational basis. Each host of family provides clean bed, toilet and a family dining room. At the evening the visitor spends time with the host family, living with them, eating traditional foods and sleeping in their clean bed. Plain rice, Tibetan bread, Syakpa (Sherpa Stew), Potato, Tibetan tea, Briddim wine are some of the indigenous foods offered. In addition, you have great chance to observe the local rituals and cultural practices, lifestyles, traditions and customs of the people. The locals gather in the evening in their traditional costumes to perform cultural songs and dances, welcoming the visitors. The host family guides the visitor, explaining the special features of the village, showing the live craftsmanship.
Today, we walk Bridim to Syabrubesi through the cultural villages. It takes about 4 to 5 hours to get in. It goes to the small village of Syarpagaon, and continues onto Bhanjyanggaon and Khangjung before descending back to Syabrubesi. This was the primary route to Langtang before the new trail (which we followed on our way up) was build (total time 6 hrs).
We should be ready at 6:00 morning in hotel lobby to have your breakfast or ask questions to your trekking guide. We will drive back to Kathmandu through the road passing terraces, streams, rivers, local settlements, high hills along the Trishuli river side. It takes about 7 to 8 hours (conditional) to reach your hotel in Kathmandu by bus/ private car.

Our trek was the Tamang Heritage Trail and Langtang. The thing I really appreciated was that in setting this up with Karna via email he was extremely prompt at getting back to me and always followed up. We had complete flexibility in working with the guide to determine the route and could vary it as served our needs. Karna met personally with us both before the trek, to make sure we were all clear, and followed up with us after the trek was over. The one thing I raised with Karna was he did ask for nearly all of the costs to be paid in advance which was a bit disconcerting given we had had only email contact. But it all turned out well as he both showed up, and provided all the services he had promised. His is a very reliable and honest guiding/trekking service. No surprises.
