Everest Base Camp Trek - Everything You Need To Know

Reaching Everest base camp is the ultimate dream of thousands of adventure aspirants from all over the world. There is a magnificent view, trekking through this area, and an experience of Sherpa culture and lifestyle.

An excellent online resource for the trek to Everest base camp, you may discover all the information you need there to accomplish the trek to the base camp successfully and safely.

I'm giving general information on the Everest base camp journey, and guest posting, which helps you to plan the Everest base camp trek properly.

Everest Base Camp Trek - Overview

The traditional Everest base camp journey passes through the Khumbu valley, taking in the splendor of the Sagarmatha national park, and offers views of four of the highest mountains in the world, all of which are above 8,000 meters. The four highest mountains are Cho-Oyu (8,470m), Makalu (8,470m), and Everest (8,848m) (8,201m).

As you make your way from Lukla to EBC on this well-known journey, you'll find and follow in the footsteps of Tenzing Norgay Sherpa and Sir Edmond Hillary.

Since it is a teahouse walk, you will spend the night in some of the world's highest communities. You can research the native Sherpa culture and traditions in the area and discover their ancestors' long-standing ties to the mountains.

One of the major attractions is to visit Kalapatthar (5,550m) and take in the 360-degree panoramic panorama while trekking.

Other trek experiences include learning about religion, culture, and festivals as well as touring many ancient and historically significant Buddhist temples and other landmarks.

A magnificent alpine flight from Kathmandu to Lukla precedes the Everest Base Camp Trek. The spectacular mountain views of the many Himalayan ranges are visible throughout this 30-minute trip. You embark on a day-long trek to Phakding after landing in Lukla.

You continue your journey to the Everest base camp by traversing Namche, Tengboche, Dingboche, Lobuche, and Gorakshep while admiring the scenery on many suspension bridges. From Lukla to EBC, the hike takes 8 days, including 2 rest days for acclimatization.

After visiting Kalapatthar, you walk back to Lukla over three exhausting days, and after staying the night in Lukla, you take a flight back to Kathmandu.

Everest Base Camp Trek Itinerary

All hikers follow the same 12-day plan when traveling to Everest Base Camp. However, when you improve your physical condition and mindset, you might make a day or a few days shorter or longer.

I advise sticking to the regular route or perhaps extending it to get around the altitude issues. For your convenience, below is a detailed itinerary overview broken down by day.

Day 1: Fly to Lukla, then hike to Phakding.

Today, you will depart Kathmandu for Lukla in the early morning. The flight, which lasts 30 minutes, provides a lovely view of picturesque Mountain View, many settlements, and lovely scenery. You begin your walk to Phakding after landing at the airport in Lukla, passing via the villages of Chheplung, Thadokoshi, and Ghat. Phakding can be reached in a day's hike that lasts about 3 hours.

Day 2: Phakding to Namche Bazaar Trek

Today, you gain roughly 800 meters of elevation. The walk, which spans five different suspension bridges over the same river, lasts roughly 6-7 hours. The Sagarmatha National Park is accessible from Monjo, where you check in. You continue your trip for another three hours to Namche Bazar after eating lunch in Jorsalle.

Day 3: Rest day for acclimatization in Namche

This is the first day of your required altitude training before you arrive at base camp. You ascend to the Everest View Hotel by way of the Khumbu region's highest airport (Syangboche). Getting to the Everest View Hotel, it takes two hours. You can climb back to Namche Bazar after admiring the view of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Amadablam, and other stunning mountains from here, or you can go to Khumjung village (the biggest village in the region).

Day 4: Trek from Namche to Tengboche

Today would be a perfect day to hike to Tengboche. The same mountains that you saw on the acclimatization hike will be visible to you again. After around two and a half hours of hiking, you arrive at Kyanjuma, where the trail to Gokyo splits, and from there you must descend to Phunkitenga. After stopping here for lunch, you continue on a two-hour ascent through the forest to Tengboche. In the evening, you can go see a historic old monastery nearby.

Day 5: Trek from Tengboche to Dingboche

After enjoying the morning scenery from this peak, you descend to Deboche. Then, after briefly ascending to Pangboche, you cross a suspension bridge. After roughly an hour of walking from Pangboche, you arrive in Somare for lunch. You have now passed the tree line and are in an open region. While hiking to Dingboche, you notice that the air here has less oxygen.

Day 6: Dingboche rest day

This is the second day of your acclimatization rest. You make the three-hour climb up Nangar-Tsang hill today. From here, you can see normal mountains like Lhotse, Nuptse, Amadablam, Thamserku, and more, including the fourth-highest mountain in Nepal, known as Makalu. You then hike back to the Dingboche lodge.

Day 7: Dingboche to Lobuche Trek

You make your way along a ridge today while keeping Pheriche to your left. You walk for around three to three and a half hours before stopping for lunch in Thukla (Dhukla). The trail ascends to the summit of Thukla after lunch. Numerous memorials to deceased climbers can be seen here. From the top of Thukla, the trail goes easy another hour to Lobuche.

Day 8 Trek to Everest Base Camp via Gorakshep from Lobuche

Because you've accomplished your aim, this is a momentous day for you. You need to get going in the morning a bit earlier. You first make the approximately three-hour hike to Gorakshep, where you then have a brief lunch. After a quick lunch, you leave all of your belongings at the lodge aside from the necessary warm clothing and climb to Everest base camp. It is a long day walk because it takes two to two and a half hours to go to base camp and the same to get back.

Mount Everest

Day 9: Trek back to Pheriche after ascending Kalapatthar.

The best time to see the magnificent Everest Himalaya is now. You set out on your climb to Kalapatthar quite early in the morning with your lantern. It takes roughly two hours to hike to the Kalapatthar and an hour to return. Then you trek back to Pheriche following the same way until Thukla.

Trek from Pheriche to Namche Bazaar on Day 10

Pheriche to Namche is a long way to travel nowadays. Although it takes around 7-8 hours, you feel at ease walking in the lower area. After Pangboche, it will be easier to breathe as you return to the forest line. You will be familiar with this trail because you have already passed people on the way up to the base camp.

Day 11: Trek from Namche to Lukla

It took you two days to think of this long day. From here, it takes about 7 hours to go to Lukla. After stopping in Phakding for lunch, you'll continue your 3-hour ascent to Lula. You can enjoy the celebration of your adventure since this is your last night in the mountains.

Day 12: Return to Kathmandu by plane

You will take an early-morning flight from here to Kathmandu while holding onto a lovely, unforgettable recollection of the Everest base camp trip. You will arrive in the busy metropolis yearning for your family and home after a tranquil mountain stay.
