But lightning strikes are also a major problem for the gas processing industry or refineries. Lightning strikes can quickly lead to fires or even explosions.
In all of these situations, a new kind of lightning rod that works with a laser could help. In an impressive research project, Trumpf has shown how such a laser lightning rod could work in the future.
