SAP Program for Truck drivers must regularly complete specialised training in order to operate commercial motor vehicles (CMVs). If truck drivers disobey DOT rules governing drug and alcohol testing, the DOT mandates that they complete a Substance Abuse Program (SAP) evaluation. Before the driver is allowed to operate a CMV, a DOT-qualified SAP will evaluate him or her. The examination involves a return-to-duty process.
