Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation is referred to as NMES. NMES, commonly referred to as therapeutic electrical stimulation, helps muscles that have become weaker through inactivity by strengthening them. NMES causes muscle contraction and relaxation through a variety of pathways by activating motor neurons. Since EMS generates constant electrical impulses for the same, primarily during a sustained therapy session, this results in muscle contraction.
