Everything We Need to Know about the history of Hospital Beds
Hospital Beds

Between 1815 and 1825, adjustable side rail beds made their debut in Britain. An early version of the Hospital Bed was a form of mattress frame with an elevating hinged head that was patented in 1874 by Cincinnati, Ohio's Andrew Wuest and Son. Willis Dew Gatch, head of the department of surgery at the Indiana University School of Medicine, created the current three-section adjustable hospital bed in the early 20th century. The Gatch Bed is another name for this kind of bed. In order to do away with the bedpan, the initial push-button hospital bed, which was created in 1945, included a built-in toilet.

Hospital Beds are a vital component of any healthcare facility.
