Metrogyl Gel- simple way to treat Bacterial skin infections
Acne is a common skin condition that causes bumps, pustules and pimples. It's not dangerous. Acne can be embarrassing and uncomfortable for the sufferer, but it does not cause any other problems than its effect on self-confidence and appearance. However, infections can be very serious. If left untreated, skin infections can lead to serious illness and permanent damage.
An acne-like skin condition can look similar to a skin infection. Both can cause spots and inflammation. Metrogyl gel is also possible for acne to become secondary. However, it is important to understand what is happening and how to treat it.
Let's look closer at possible infections that could be confused for acne.
Infected with acne
Acne can become infected when it is popped or squeezed. If the skin barrier is broken, microbes may get in and cause secondary problems. Make sure to wash your hands after you apply the cream. Infected acne can cause severe, but rare, skin damage and scarring.
Folliculitis
Folliculitis, as shown below, is inflammation caused by a blocked hair-gum that has become infected with either a fungal or bacterial microbe. Itchy, bumpy, or enlarged glands can cause itching and swelling. If it does not resolve on its own, you may need to take antibiotics or antifungals. It can occur anywhere there are hair follicles. Most common is on the scalp, cheeks, chest, and chin.
Staphylococcus aureus
This common bacteria, also known as staph is found on the skin and around us. However, it can cause problems if the skin barrier becomes damaged. Staph infections can mimic acne with painful, pustule-like bumps on the skin. To prevent scarring or spreading, it needs to be treated quickly.
MRSA
Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is a very serious kind of staph, though thankfully rare, because it's not treatable with conventional antibiotics. Staph can happen anywhere there has been trauma, even a small cut. However, acne is more common on the face than on the chest, back, or shoulders. MRSA and Staph are often accompanied with a fever. This is not the case for acne.
Impetigo
Impetigo (pictured above) is a contagious bacterial skin infection. It can mimic acne if it appears on the skin in its early stages. The sores/blisters do not crust over like acne. It is easily identifiable by yellow crusty patches and rapid spread to other parts of the body. This can be caused by staph, or more often, Group A Streptococcus.
Boils
Boiling or abscess can be caused by damage to the skin barrier or a blocked hair follicle. While boils may look like acne, they can quickly get worse and require antibiotic treatment.
You should immediately seek medical attention if you suspect your skin condition, whether it is eczema, acne, or another. Ask a pharmacist for help if you are unable to see a doctor right away. Metrogyl gel is important to check for infection if you are experiencing a fever or if your skin feels very hot, swollen, or painful.
You should stick to a strict hygiene regimen, even if you feel tempted to squeeze or pop pimples. It is easy to spread bacteria from your fingers onto your skin and cause an infection.
If you have a rash or scab on your skin, consult your doctor. Because topical steroids can trigger perioral dermatitis, they are not recommended for use in treating acne.
