What exactly is SDN (Software Defined Networking)? Using software-based controllers or application programming interfaces (APIs) to communicate with the network's underlying hardware architecture and control traffic is known as software-defined networking (SDN).
An Software Defined Networking architecture consists of these three layers: Application: The programmes and services that are active on a network. Control: The SDN controller, or the network's "brains." Infrastructure includes switches, routers, and the accompanying gear. To manage the virtual and physical devices in charge of directing the data packets, open SDN employs open protocols. API SDN controls the flow of data to and from each device through programming interfaces, also referred to as southbound APIs.
