The Azure Span is located in a tundra zone, and is populated by the humanoid Walrus Tuskarr Blue dragons, gnolls, and Furbolg. It's part of the expansion's Dragon Isles, and is in the style of The Redwoods of California, along with the original WoW zone Grizzly Hills. It's one of the largest zones in WoW to date and offers the most drastic elevation changes.

Blizzard has confirmed that the only Dracthyr class available currently is the Evoker but it is possible to support more classes in the future. Other class announcements, the Alpha will allow players to experience modifications that will affect the Death Knight, Druid, Hunter, Priest, and Rogue classes, such as the updated talent trees. Players will also find out about adjustments to the alchemy and blacksmithing professions. These include new crafting stations as well as professional equipment.
