Chitosan can be Applied Directly to Wounds to Promote Healing
The natural polymer chitosan is derived from chitin, a polysaccharide present in the exoskeletons

The natural polymer chitosan is derived from chitin, a polysaccharide present in the exoskeletons of crustaceans and insects. Chitin is a linear molecule made of N-acetylglucosamine (GlcNAc) units connected by (14)-glycosidic linkages. C is created by deacetylating chitin. C antibacterial, wound-healing, and anti-inflammatory capabilities have been proven.

Chitosan can be directly administered to wounds to speed up healing. It has been demonstrated to quicken wound healing and prevent scarring. Normally, wounds heal over time, but due to conditions including ageing, infection, and poor circulation, this process may take longer than usual. Inadequate wound healing can result in problems like scarring, infections, and even death.
