Thisfollows the company signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) withMalaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB).

RandhillSingh, head of MAHB’s KLIA Aeropolis subsidiary, said theinternational aerospace firm was interested in establishing line andbase air frame MRO hangar, component repair workshops, partsdistribution centre, and aircraft on ground (AOG) services within theAsia-Pacific region.
Hecommented: “Skyways Technics is a prominent international player inthe industry for turboprop (ATR) and regional aircraft maintenance.
“SkywaysTechnics’ intention to continually expand its capabilities and growin Southeast Asia is in complete alignment with our Subang AirportRegeneration strategy, which seeks to position Subang Airport as thehub for turboprops in Asia-Pacific and meets the demands of ATRmaintenance in the region.”
Randhilladded that the region’s MRO activities were primed for 150% growthover the coming decade, totalling US$21.7 billion.
Bigambitions for Asia-Pacific aviation
SkywaysTechnics has 30 years’ experience in the maintenance of regionalaircraft such as ATR, as well as aircraft component MRO solutions andspare parts support.
TheSønderborg, Denmark-based company established its Asian headquartersat Subang Airport back in 2014, albeit with only a component repairworkshop.
Randhillsaid that the continued relationship between Skyways Technics and theairport – which served as the main airport for Kuala Lumpur untilthe opening of Kuala Lumpur International Airport in 1998 – markedMAHB’s commitment to further strengthening Subang Airport’sstatus as a regional airport and aerospace hub.
Headded that it also indicated how confident leading global aerospaceplayers such as Skyways Technics were to expand on an existingpresence at the airport.
“SubangAirport is more than ready to host Skyways Technics Group’sexpanded regional Asia-Pacific hub that will leverage on ATRoperators and MRO Centres, allowing it to cater to the region’sdemand,” he stated.
