AsbestosTesting/Sampling
The only100% way to prove whether or not a material contains or does notcontain asbestos is to use a UKAS accredited asbestostestingservice. Without expert testing and without confirmation that thematerial is clear of contamination the law states that you mustassume that it does contain asbestos.
TridentSurveying utilise the professionalism and expertise of an independentstate of the art UKAS accredited laboratory for the testing ofmaterials found during the surveying process.
HowAsbestos Testing Works
Tridentwork hard to ensure the testing process is speedy and efficient. Arepresentative sample of the material, suspected to be asbestoscontaining, is collected during the survey and submitted immediatelyto the laboratory for testing. In the analytical laboratory, thissuspect material is analysed by a detailed examination by stereomicroscope. One or more representative sub samples are preparedmechanically and or chemically for further examination. Fibresobserved in the course of the examination are categorised tentativelyon the basis of morphology and certain physical properties.
Each fibretype recognised is sampled by selecting a few fibres or bundles andthese are mounted in a refractive index liquid to match the mostlikely asbestos type. The fibres are then positively identified asone of the six regulated types on the basis of their detailed opticalproperties using polarised light microscopy.
AsbestosTesting Results
Once thelaboratory results are back we confirm or otherwise the make-up ofthe material and depending on the outcome we will speak to you aboutthe options you have and will recommend the best option for you.Remember, unlike many of our competitors, we are not tied to anasbestos removal company, neither do we remove asbestos ourselves, and therefore our advice really is impartial. This is all done withinthe guidance of HSG264.
