With the level-scaling feature
Leveling up WoTLK Classic Gold was fixed, which resulted in a more scripted experience because it only allowed players to play in levels that were appropriate for the game instead of having free reign, Kubit said.
"In the earlier days, the only thing you had to do to achieve fixed levelling was you had to select one of three zones that was the correct level for you, and then move to this and this one. It was very well-written."

With the level-scaling feature, you can now freely move through Azeroth and carve your own way instead of being compelled down one particular way.
Making level-scaling work across Azeroth was not as simple. Kubit told me it took "hours and hours" of watching numbers to make sure enemies were correctly scaling.
"It was a huge buy WOW WoTLK Classic Gold data problem. It's a huge problem to have thousands of quests in the game. and tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands of creatures, and the majority of them had to be seen," Kubit said.
