What Bois and Yeboah do here is not realistic or normal though

What Bois and MT 2K23 Yeboah do here is not realistic or normal though. However, along the way I just love witnessing how unprepared the simulation engine is for the shenanigans taking place. It reaches peak insanity when Giannis and Jokic have retired and become coaches, and there's just one tall player left running roughshod through the league averaging 40 rebounds and 6 points a game. The simulation engine, the, the side modes like All-Star Weekend, everything begins to crumble under the weight of the crappy players left in the game by the 2050s.

So, enjoy the video if you never have, and remember there is an alternate timeline where we could be watching 5-foot-4 dudes running around chucking air balls on Christmas Day rather than Kawhi and Giannis.

NBA 2K continues to be a baffling franchise. It's like a "will they or won't they" from your favorite long-running TV series, only the two "people" involved here are NBA 2K and EA. Does EA love the franchise? Will they get back together again? Are they just bad for each other?

But there was a time when NBA 2K was king. I remember it because one of my fondest memories is getting NBA 2K 98 for PlayStation on Christmas. It exploded my little brain with joy. It was not the last time an EA Sports game was my favorite gift on my new console — I had an N64 before then — but it's still the strongest memory I have as it relates to EA Sports on this holiday. It's also what makes this video by content creator Agent 00 so painful and wonderful all at once.

I will to this day go to bat for NBA 2K from the Sega Genesis days all the way until the Xbox 360 comes out. The Sega Genesis, PlayStation 1 and PlayStation 2 were the glory days for NBA 2K. It had major competition from NBA 2K by the PS2 days, but it was still a very serious competition — except for NBA 2K 2001 on PS2, which was just terrible. EA had returned to their groove by NBA 2K 2003 and continued to carve out their path as the slightly more arcade version of NBA basketball when compared to NBA 2K on the PS2.

Everything changed when the 360/PS3 generation began, and the pain has continued since then. But you don't have to watch all of that badness on this joyous holiday because I'm sure not going to do it either. For example, I choose to forget that NBA 2K exists as a franchise after NBA 2K 05.

Tracy McGrady and Yao Ming lead things here because both are longtime 2K monsters, and the Tracy McGrady Prime Series of course wraps up the first Prime Series overall. Coming off a mostly lackluster Moments of the Week 9 (still going to review the players in coming days), this brings another batch of incredibly good cards into the mix. I don't know if that's a good or bad thing, but it's a thing nevertheless.

The price to lock in the whole Prime Series 1 set is going to cost you, but you do get one of the few galaxy opal cards currently available in Ray Allen if you go down that road. Soon enough galaxy opal cards will be a dime a dozen, but it's certainly rather early in the MyTeam season to already start seeing them.

Adebayo is a lot like Kemba to me, but on an even worse level. I respect Bam's game, he's a better pro than I ever expected him to be, but he's trash in 2K. His style of player just has no place in a game with a very defined meta. He's too small to play center, he's not good enough as a shooter, and his playmaking just does not translate in a way that matters. He's a man without a country in 2K, and with an amethyst you're not getting any advantages in terms of cheapness.

Beyond that, his sapphire card has a duo with sapphire Jimmy Butler, which this one does not. Pogo Stick is a useful enough HOF badge to get, but otherwise even with a ton more gold badges, I don't see a real need to change out his emerald Moments card if you really want to use Bam. If Bam gets a card that's super fast, maybe he will work from time to time at center. But unless Safe NBA 2K23 MT gimmicks his shooting and makes it better than it really is from deep, you won't get a Draymond Green-like card out of Bam.
