The Certificate Program in Shuddh Hindi (CPSH) - Beginner Phase is a foundation set of 4 courses for learners of all ages, starting from 9th grade and beyond. It is the first phase of a three-part program that includes Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced levels, collectively forming the CPSH. There are no prerequisites for this program, and the medium of instruction is English, making it accessible to a global audience. It is a detailed 1-year study, divided into 4 quarters (44 weeks), designed to provide beginner level students with a solid foundation in the Hindi language and script, enabling them to pursue higher learning with ease.
The courses in the Beginner Phase include learning the Hindi script (devanAgarii), mastering the correct pronunciation of Hindi letters, forming simple sentences in all three persons, making requests and asking questions, reciting Hindi words and phrases with correct pronunciation, listening to and reciting simple songs, understanding case endings, different tenses, and comprehending and reciting simple verses. Students will also learn to write short essays and stories, build a vocabulary of at least 1,000 words (including nouns, pronouns, and verbs), and engage in beginner level conversations.
The CPSH - Beginner Phase is structured as a 4-quarter sequence, totaling 60 hours of instruction and 120 hours of self-study. The curriculum is designed innovatively, incorporating prescribed textbooks and other appropriate course content. The program is taught by dedicated HUA Faculty members through a user-friendly online platform, featuring live virtual classrooms. Upon completing the 4th quarter, students may progress to the Intermediate Phase, which consists of 4 quarters (44 weeks).
