My mother is a complete rock star when it comes to designing bookcase or hutch shelves. In fact, from a few years ago, this is one of my favorite images of her. She was so "in the zone" when I shot this photo that she didn't even see the shutter clicking.

Since we've enjoyed spending more time at home over the past few months, I've given every room a lot of thought. I've been silently thinking, "What aspect of the space is functioning well and what part I might adjust to make it even better," as I stand in each area.
There are times when I want to restart everything from scratch. And other times, I feel like everything is coming together perfectly, we just need one or two more things.
Recently, we've been spending a lot more time in the living room as a peaceful space. I appreciate my dad so much for building these bookcases for me.
I adore them so much, and they are almost 9 feet tall.
The bookcases are essentially a highlight of the living area because they occupy a sizable piece of its single wall. For the past few years, I've pretty much maintained the same styling for them.
However, I've been very into a tone-on-tone more sombre vibe lately. I therefore made the decision to modify the bookcases.
