It has been difficult to implement sustainability in clinical laboratories when there is heavy reliance on electricity, water, and single-use plastics. However, numerous campaigns and initiatives over the past few years have encouraged the use of environmentally friendly lab materials. One of the most noticeable changes is the substitution of single-use plastics for glass laboratory equipment. A prime example of the growing importance of sustainability in the laboratory setting is My Green Lab. An organization called My Green Lab offers sustainability certification programs and offers instructions on how to operate Laboratory Equipment sustainably.
New items that benefit end users are being developed by market participants in Laboratory Equipment. To give one example, Scientific Laboratory Supply (SLS) recently unveiled the SLS Lab Pro gas and liquid nitrogen (LN2) generator, which gives labs control over their gas and LN2 supplies. Gas canisters and Dewar flasks no longer need to be transported thanks to these generators. These changes are positive for the laboratory supplies.
