Chemicals made from crude oil and natural gas are known as petrochemicals. When crude oil or gas is distilled or cracked as part of the refining process, these compounds are extracted. Benzene, ethylene, propylene, and toluene are a few of the key petrochemicals produced through this method. The most significant feedstock for the petrochemical sector is naphtha. Petrochemicals products use around 5% of the oil and gas used annually. The United States, which is home to the largest petrochemical market in the world, consumes 58 kg of petrochemical goods annually per person.
