Monoethanolamine, commonly known as ethanolamine, is an organic chemical substance used as a corrosion inhibitor, a drug ingredient, a textile additive, a wood preservative, and to cleanse acidic gases (H2S, CO2). This clear, viscous liquid has antihistaminic properties and is a first-generation monoethanolamine. It comes in a number of grades, such as low freeze grade, iron and chloride free, as well as grades for gas treating. MEA is biodegradable and water soluble. Monoethanolamine, also referred to as - -Aminoethanol, is a naturally flammable, colourless, and poisonous chemical compound that has an odour resembling that of ammonia. Monoethanolamine exhibits a special combination of hygroscopic characteristics from both the amine and alcohol groups. For the most part, monoethanolamine is employed in pure form in industrial applications.
