The three major supply chain stages required for mass production of micro-LED displays are micro-LED manufacturing, mass transferring, and panel manufacturing. Large-scale display production will necessitate the convergence of these three stages. When compared to LCD or OLED displays, the supply chain for Micro-LED Market displays is complex and lengthy. As the technology matures, the LCD supply chain, which includes various components and materials, is well established. The OLED supply chain is evolving; however, because there are fewer components in the display panel, one or two players can dominate the supply chain. Every process in the micro-LED supply chain is critical, and managing each stage of the supply chain effectively by one or two players will be difficult. The patent portfolios of companies, as well as their distribution, indicate that no single company is well-positioned to cover the entire supply chain of micro-LED displays.
