Infrared or visible light photons are converted into electrical impulses by Light Sensors, which are passive photoelectric devices (electrons). Following a measurement of the radiant energy in a light spectral range, the electrical signal output frequently displays the light intensity. The creation of voltage or current in response to an input light energy is the basic operating concept for all different types of Light Sensors. They do, however, operate in quite distinct ways.
A photoresistor frequently functions similarly to a standard resistor. Yet, the amount of light that photoresistors are exposed to determines how their electrical resistance changes.
Therefore;
· If the light intensity from a light source is low, the cadmium sulphide cells have a higher resistance. Also the opposite.
· The aforementioned functioning principle is primarily used in applications like street lamps. In such circumstances, the decreased resistance brought on by the increased light intensity results in no daytime light generation.
