The ability of a Physical Security Information Management platform to connect systems at a data level, as opposed to other forms of integration which interface a constrained number of products, is a critical distinction between PSIM based integration and other forms of physical security system integration. PSIM permits the use of open technologies that are usable by many different manufacturers. These PSIM products provide more room for growth and can lower implementation costs by making better use of already-existing hardware. In general, PSIM solutions are used to centralise information to one or more control hubs. Control rooms or command and control centres are the terms used to describe them (CCC, C4I, etc.).
