A machine created to harvest a variety of grain crops is the contemporary Combine Harvesters, or simply combine. The name comes from the fact that it combines the four distinct harvesting processes of reaping, threshing, gathering, and winnowing into one. Wheat, rice, oats, rye, barley, corn (maize), sorghum, soybeans, flax (linseed), sunflowers, and rapeseed are some of the crops that can be harvested using a combine. The crop's stems and any remaining leaves are included in the separated straw that is left on the field; the straw is then either chopped, spread out, and ploughed back into the soil, or it is baled for use as livestock bedding and limited-feed.
One of the most economically significant labor-saving innovations is the introduction of the combine harvester, which considerably lowers the percentage of the population working in agriculture.
