An injury to the skin or other tissues that are brought on by heat, cold, electricity, chemicals, friction, or ultraviolet radiation is referred to as Burn Care (like sunburn). The majority of burns are caused by heat from hot solids, fire, or scalding liquids. Burns typically happen at home or at work. Domestic kitchens pose risks in the home, including those posed by stoves, flames, and hot liquids. Risks in the workplace include fire, chemical burns, and electric burns. Other risk factors include smoking and alcoholism. Burn Care can also result from self-harm or interpersonal violence (assault).
First-degree or superficial burns are those that only affect the outermost layers of skin. Without blisters, they have a red appearance, and the pain usually lasts three days.
