OSS/BSS systems are also used to assist in the management of a company's site portfolio. They provide operational data to network operators such as network availability and performance. While BSS and OSS are very different systems, they both serve the same purpose: to streamline and improve telecommunications companies' processes. They are intended to assist telecommunications companies in providing better services and technical support. In September 2021, CodeSee, a new startup, launched OSS Port, an open source project designed to assist disparate open source teams in developing an understanding of the entire code base.
