An acoustic sound can be converted by a digital stethoscope into electronic signals that can then be amplified for better listening. These electronic impulses can be further processed and converted to digital form before being transmitted to a laptop or personal computer.
By electrically boosting the body noises, an electronic stethoscope overcomes the low sound levels. The acoustic sound waves collected through the chest piece are converted by electronic stethoscopes into electrical signals that can be amplified for better hearing.
The Digital Stethoscope was selected 99 percent of the time during lung tests. "We observed that the Korotkoff sounds are better heard with a digital stethoscope when monitoring manual blood pressure," the authors stated. "A digital stethoscope records clearer sounds through a patient's clothing."
