Single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNT) and multi-walled carbon nanotubes are the two broad product categories that make up the global carbon nanotubes (MWNT) market. Major uses for MWNCTs include conductive copper and energy storage devices like batteries and supercapacitors. When included in a composite structure, MWNTs are highly conductive. However, only the outer wall has the ability to conduct electricity, whereas inner walls are unable to do so.
MWNTs have a high aspect ratio, with lengths that are frequently much longer than the diameter—nearly 100 times longer. Aspect ratio, degree of entanglement, and tube straightness all affect how well they perform and are used.
