Family planning and women's reproductive health receive insufficient funding, research, and attention. However, family planning is among the wisest investments that leaders can make to open doors for millions of women and their families, particularly those who reside in low- and middle-income nations. Everyone gains from funding this type of medical care. Women and girls are held back when it is neglected.
I'm a member of the foundation team that funds the study and creation of contraceptive technology. It takes time to create new products that cater to the needs of women, so it's a long game. However, the investment is worthwhile because these encouraging technologies move us closer to a world in which every pregnancy can be planned and women and girls everywhere can make choices about their future.
