Lab-on-a-chip Market
The majority of the research on Lab-on-a-chip technology to date has been concentrated on its uses in diagnostics, such as its use in diagnostic devices in clinics or at locations with little to no access to lab facilities. Numerous uses in life science and medicine have also been investigated thus far, including potential use in DNA or RNA sequencing studies and protein crystallisation studies.
It has also been investigated how to synthesise radioactively labelled chemical compounds specifically for use in procedures like positron emission tomography. It has been proven that Lab-on-a-chip experiments can use samples as small as a single cell.
