The artist had previously worked on PlayStation's Uncharted series and for some reason, that led fans to form a connection. But, Kozlowsky and Retro Studios were actually working on Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze as well, and when the game's release date was announced, many Zelda fans slammed the game because they were expecting something different. In a new interview on the Kiwi Talkz podcast, Kozlowsky disclosed the reasons for this rumor, which caused disappointment for the development team.
"Sometimes it's frustrating because it leads to false expectations. That's what happened when we announced Tropical Freeze. You know, everyone was in a state of 'they're developing something like a Zelda game or they're developing something like a Zelda game', but like nope. And we announced Tropical Freeze and it looks stunning and beautiful and then people are like "oh, it's just another Donkey Kong.'
And then you find out that everyone is slamming on it on Neogaf or something and you're thinking 'oh, well because everyone yeah, thought we were doing some sort of Zelda game, and then it's like that's not what is happening.'
