Ammonia Market
A common refrigerant in the past was ammonia. It has been largely replaced by hydrochlorofluorocarbons and chlorofluorocarbons, which are also being closely monitored by the environment. Ammonia is most likely used in glass cleaners, which are widely used in homes.
Ammonia is highly soluble in water; however, the amount of solubility varies with temperature (see fast facts). Although it cannot be isolated, ammonium hydroxide is another name for aqueous ammonia. It is referred to as "ammine" when ammonia is used as a ligand in coordination complexes.
