Pulse Oximeter
A Pulse Oximeter is an electric device that measures the amount of oxygen in red blood cells. It can be attached to the fingers, the forehead, the nose, the foot, the ears, or the toes to measure the oxygen count in red blood cells. It is a noninvasive, rapid, and continuous method of monitoring oxygenation that allows for the early detection of changes in a patient's clinical status. Modern Pulse Oximeter can measure the amount of red and infrared light in an area of pulsatile blood flow. Blood oxygen saturation (SpO2), pulse rate, and perfusion index are all measured by a pulse oximeter (PI).
