Yamaha MT 15 vs Bajaj Pulsar NS200 Comparison

When it comes to performance motorbikes, Bajaj Auto has traditionally relied on its Pulsar line of vehicles. The series has developed over the years with several class-leading innovations being added, beginning with the legendary Pulsar 150 & 180 twins back in 2001. The Pulsar 200 NS is no exception since it is the flagship model of the Pulsar line today and a vehicle that sprang from the partnership with KTM. Bajaj bikes are doing great in the market today.

The MT-15, a 155cc premium sports motorbike from Yamaha, is a raw street warrior with a gorgeous paint job and striking appearance. Many of its pieces come from its R15 fully-faired sister. Due to its small rear and low-slung LED headlight, the MT-15 seems to be a genuine naked motorcycle.

Engine

A 155cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine will power the MT 15. The mill produces 14.7 Nm of torque at 8,500 rpm and 18.8 bhp at 10,000 rpm. The fuel-injected engine is a descendant of the Yamaha R15 V3.0, therefore it will have VVA (Variable Valve Actuation) and be paired with a 6-speed transmission. It will be one of the most potent bikes in its class since the stats for a 150cc engine are rather amazing.

The Pulsar 200 NS's 199.5 cc, 4-stroke SOHC, liquid-cooled engine has four valves and a powerful single cylinder with a diameter and stroke measurement of 72 mm by 49 mm. Despite not having fuel injection, it nevertheless produces a good 23 bhp at 9,500 rpm and 18.3 Nm at 8,000 rpm. A 6-speed constant mesh gearbox is used to transfer the power from the powerful engine to the chain drive. As opposed to gasoline ignition, Bajaj has kept its carburettors, which somewhat improves power delivery. The engine is far smoother and more powerful than that of the engines found on preceding Pulsars, although being less powerful than the KTM unit. In addition to lowering back pressure and improving engine efficiency, the centrally positioned midship exhaust with ExhaustTEC technology also gives the bike a gruff exhaust noise.

 

Performance and Handling

The Yamaha MT 15 has excellent handling because of its strong suspension arrangement and Deltabox frame. For a motorbike that weighs only 128 kg, the engine feels nimble, runs well, and is surprisingly powerful. The bike could be a touch stiff for everyday usage, but its handling characteristics on curves will reward you.

The 0-100 run for the Bajaj Pulsar NS200 takes 10.2 seconds, and the bike has a company-stated peak speed of 135 kmph. The perimeter frame, monoshock rear suspension, and disc brakes front and back are more than sufficient to keep you smiling inside your helmet as you crank the nuts out of this well-titled hooligan. The wide tires aid in maintaining equilibrium. Running 100/80 front and 130/70 rear sections on 17-inch tubeless MRF Eurogrip tires. The bike stays securely grounded during hard turning thanks to the distinctive tread pattern. Although the bike is extremely forgiving, it requires some effort to manoeuvre around sharp turns. If you can force her into a corner, it won't bite you back, but go cautiously. You won't be able to flick it as easily due to the wider turning radius.

 

Mileage

The Yamaha MT 15 mileage ranges from 40 to 45 kmpl. However, mileage is influenced by the rider's riding style.

Whereas for the NS 200, Long-distance travelling may be a little difficult with the 200 NS' 12-litre fuel tank because the bike may not perform as well as Bajaj says. The firm advertises 58 kilometres per gallon on average, but only if you drive it slowly. If you ride the bike properly, you should notice an overall figure that falls between the mid-30s and low-40s. However, compared to the final product, that is a very minor price to pay. The starting price of the Yamaha MT-15 Version 2.0 is Rs. 1.64 Lakh, which is Rs. 24,234 more expensive than the Pulsar NS200 price which is Rs. 1.40 Lakh (all prices ex-showroom). While the Yamaha MT-15 Version 2.0 comes in five colours, the Pulsar NS200 comes in four different colours.
