What is the Difference Between FDY Yarn and POY Yarn?
The main raw materials for spinning polyester are undrawn yarn (conventional spinning), semi-pre-oriented yarn (medium-speed spinning) and pre-oriented yarn (high-speed spinning). Besides, they can be further processed into textured yarns using the process called drawing.

Textured Yarn
Textured yarns are a type of yarn manufactured by altering the fiber material in such a way that it has loops, coils, crimps or crinkles. These loops, coils and crimps improve the fiber's structure, tensile strength, crimp, bulk, stretchability and appearance. These loops, coils and crinkles can be formed from either staple or filament fibers.
Generally, textured color yarn are made from synthetic fibers and can be made from a wide range of materials including polyester, nylon, polyamide and polypropylene. They can also be derived from natural fibers such as wool.
These textured yarns are widely used in the production of knitted fabrics, including hosiery and underwear as well as shape-retaining knitted fabrics for men's and women's suits and overcoats. They are also used in the production of carpets, blankets, drapery and upholstery fabrics.
The majority of textured yarns are produced using the spinning process. Texturizing occurs after the spandex yarn is spun and can be a part of a continuous operation or it may be carried out after the filaments have been twisted to produce a finished product.
Texturing is a complex and expensive process that must be done carefully. It has to be performed at the correct temperature and speed, with the proper airflow and at the appropriate time.
When the texture is achieved, the resulting yarn will be soft to the touch and supple. This enables the finished product to feel comfortable and to retain its shape when being washed and dried.
There are two main processes for texturing: Friction and Heat Settexturing. The latter involves a combination of a series of steps including twist-heatset-detwist-make a soft package and reset.
The resulting textured yarn is then converted to single ply, Z-twisted sewing threads and tested for sewability according to industrial standards. The results show that the textured yarn has better sewability than standard plain weave fabric and is suitable for the production of high-performance garments.

Another benefit of textured Polyester yarn is that they can absorb more water than plain weave fabrics. This is because of the increased bulkiness of a textured yarn and its ability to provide fine capillaries for water transport.
This is important for a number of reasons, not only because it helps prevent sweat from forming but also because it allows a more uniform distribution of water within the garment. This makes wicking easier and reduces the chance of moisture-related problems such as mildew.
In addition to these benefits, textured yarns are easy to wash and dry. This is important because many people prefer to wear clothes that are easy to clean.
During the texturing process, interfilament spaces are created in the core of a textured yarn which can improve its bulkiness and increase its wickability. The textured yarns also have more surface loops than plain woven fabric which create rough surfaces and reduce the capillary action of liquids.
Textured yarns have become increasingly popular in recent years, due to their increased comfort, durability and hygienic properties. In fact, they have replaced some of the most commonly used natural fibers in a number of modern textile applications.
