Crystallization of CBD Equipment
The CBD will be dissolved and crystallized in a jacketed jar with stirring. The temperature of the vessel will be controlled via a heating/cooling bath linked to the vessel jacket.
The solvent will be ACS grade pentane. This is potentially hazardous material. Check with your security officer!
CBD Oil Dissolving
In pentane, dissolve the transparent CBD oil. Make that the vent/condenser on the jacketed vessel is linked to a blower motor or fume hood that can handle pentane vapors. Pentane has a boiling point of 36 degrees Celsius. Pentane produces a lot of vapor even at low temperatures. TAKE ALL PROPER PRECAUTIONS AND BE CAREFUL! Make sure the vessel condenser is at -20 degrees Celsius. In the jacketed vessel, mix 1 part pentane with 2 parts CBD oil (certain oils need slightly more or less pentane). Set the heating bath to 45 degrees Celsius and start churning. Wait until the solution reaches 45 degrees Celsius and the oil has completely dissolved.
Precipitation
Preheat the bath to 5 degrees Celsius. Stir the mixture slowly. The solution will get more viscous as it cools. RPM should be kept above 120 by adjusting the stirrer. CBD Crystal Bona will develop spontaneously in the pentane solution, or "crash out." Reduce the temperature to at least -10 degrees Celsius. The Crystal Bona development may be affected by the temperatures you utilize and how they fluctuate over time.
Gather CBD crystals.
Once the precipitation has stopped, flush the reactor or manually remove the CBD Crystal Bona. To separate the mother liquor from the CBD Crystal Bona, vacuum filter the crystal/liquid slurry. To remove contaminants from the Crystal Bonal surfaces, rinse them with ice-cold pentane. More pentane rinses may enhance bad color, but overall yield will be reduced. It will help you get a greater yield if you keep the CBD and ingredients cool throughout this process.
Mother Liquor Reprocessing
CBD is still dissolved in the mother liquor. This solution is reprocessable! One drawback is that over time, the mother liquor will absorb THC. The number of crystallizations may be limited in this way.
Purity of CBD
CBD distillate with 70–75 percent CBD may be crystallized to generate CBD Isolate Germany (crystals) with a purity of 90 percent or more.
CBD distillate containing less than 70% CBD may be crystallized to provide CBD Isolate Germany with a purity of 85 percent or higher.
To increase the efficacy of CBD Crystal Bona, they may be dissolved and then recrystallized.
