The first step in treating bacterial meningitis is to identify the specific bacteria causing the infection. This is typically done by analyzing a sample of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), which is the fluid that surrounds the brain and spinal cord. Once the bacteria have been identified, treatment can begin. Antibiotics are usually given intravenously (through a vein) to ensure that they reach the CSF and brain tissue. Supportive care is also an essential component of the Meningitis Treatment.
