In General, Laxatives Accelerate Fecal Passage Or Decrease Fecal Consistency
Laxatives

A class of medications known as laxatives either hastens faecal passage or lessens faecal consistency. Their main purpose is to alleviate constipation. Even though the terms "cathartics," "purgatives," and "evacuants" are sometimes used interchangeably, there are slight distinctions in the meaning of the terms, particularly between Laxatives Market and cathartics. There is a lot of overlap between the various classes of laxatives despite the fact that they might function in different ways. The main mechanisms of action include increasing fluid retention through osmotic or hydrophilic mechanisms, reducing net fluid absorption through effects on the transport of fluid and electrolytes in the small or large intestines, and finally altering motility by preventing nonpropulsive contractions or promoting propulsive contractions.
