How long does IVF take?
Areyou planning to take up IVF treatment, but worried about how long the process takes?
Duringthe IVF procedure, mature eggs are retrieved from ovaries and fertilized bysperm in a lab. Then the embryo istransferred to a uterus. One full IVF cycle takes about three weeks. Sometimes these steps aresplit into different parts. The process can take longer. It may last from twoto six weeks.

Bloodinvestigations to track the progress of the IVF stimulation
Oneday for pick-up, done under anaesthesia
Onedo for the embryo transfer – this may happen in the same cycle as the pick upor in a different cycle.
Itis best to plan for time duration of 3 week. If the embryo transfer does nothappen in the same cycle as the IVF pick up, then the woman needs to plan foran additional 2-3 weeks of availability for preparing for the embryo transferand also for the actual embryo transfer procedure.
