Indian Sportsperson Saina Nehwal
Saina Nehwal is a famous Indian sports player. She is a professional badminton singles player. She won over twenty international titles which include ten Superseries titles. Saina Nehwal is the first Indian badminton player to have won an Olympic medal. The Government of India conferred the Padma Bhushan award on her and Previously, the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna and the Arjuna Award were also conferred on her by the government of India.

Saina Nehwal is an Indian Badmintonplayer born in district Hisar of the state Haryana, on 17 March 1990.  Her father, Harvir Singh Nehwal, was anexcellent badminton star at Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana AgriculturalUniversity, and her mother, Usha Rani, was a state-level player. Saina Nehwaldreamed of fulfilling her mom’s desire of being a National champion. Thus, thelittle kid with a big wish started the training at the age of 8.  She did her schooling at Campus School CCSHAU in Hisar and St. Ann's College for Women in Hyderabad.

The little girl went to the SportsAcademy of Andhra Pradesh to take professional badminton coaching. Harvir SinghNehwal had to travel 50 km every day to send his child to the training centre.Then, Saina Nehwal attended Pullela Gopichand Academy in Hyderabad for furtherpractice. She also learned Karate and achieved a brown belt. The talented kidis determined to be the famous player of India.

With her perseverance and skill,Saina Nehwal began to win various interstate and district championships. Theselectors noticed the efforts of the emerging star and gave her the opportunityto represent India at Czech Open Tournament in 2003. She won the Silver medal atthe Commonwealth Youth Games in 2004 at the age of 14. Later the youngster wenton to win the Asian Satellite Badminton Tournament in 2005 and 2006. At the ageof 16, she became the runner-up in the World Championship in 2006.

The budding player was noted amongthe well-versed badminton stars in India till the age of 18. The great athletegrabbed the opportunity of representing her motherland at the 2008 BeijingOlympics and reached the quarter-finals. In 2009, Saina Nehwal was the firstIndian to win the Indonesian Open. Later, the teenager went on to achieveIndian Grand Prix and India Open titles in the year 2009. The Sportsperson inIndia was honoured with the Arjuna Award for outstanding skills.

 In 2010, the government of Indiaappreciated the brilliant sportswoman with Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna and PadmaShri Awards for her stunning work on the badminton court. Saina Nehwalsuccessfully achieved gold and a bronze medal in the women’s singles and mixedteam in the Commonwealth Games held in Delhi in October  2010 with her perseverance. The great athletewas ranked number 7 in the women's singles badminton world rankings. SainaNehwal won the Swiss Open Title in 2011. The same year in December, she grabbedthe Hong Kong Super Series after defeating Wang Shixian in the final. Shebecame the first Indian singles player to be world number 5. The player won thebronze medal at the London Olympics in 2012 and became the inspiration formany.

 In 2014, Saina Nehwal won the IndianGrand Prix Gold Title after defeating P.V. Sindhu.  The hard-working gamer with the IndianWomen’s Team achieved the bronze medal at the Asian Games. Moreover, the greatplayer defeated Carolina Marin to win the Australian Super Series. After winningthe silver medal, she became the first Indian player to win World BadmintonChampionship. The achiever received the first Syed Modi International title in2015. In 2016, the sportswoman grabbed a Bronze medal at the Asian BadmintonChampionships. Subsequently, the skilful lady was honoured with the PadmaBhushan Award from the Government of India.

 Then in 2017, Saina Nehwal got abronze medal at the World Badminton Championships. The athlete achieved goldmedals in Women’s Singles and Mixed Team events in the 2018 Commonwealth Gamesheld in Glasgow, Scotland. The champion successfully won the bronze medal atthe Jakarta Asian Games in September 2018. In 2019, the player attained herfirst BWF Super 500 title by defeating Carolina Marín. The famous sportspersonin India won the National Championships after beating P.V. Sindhu. The proudathlete became a member of the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) in January 2020.

 SainaNehwal is a great Badminton player of India who made India proud with heroutstanding mastery. The little girl from Hisar made a respectable positionaround the world and made the desire of her parents come true by becoming aninternational champion.
